Conveyor lines are the basis of complex mechanization of cargo handling and manufacturing processes and increase productivity and efficiency. Conveyors are widely used as transport vehicles at plants factories, mining, construction, agriculture and other areas for moving various bulk cargo (coal, ore, cement, sand, chippings, gravel, soil, grain, etc.) and artificial (packaging, brick, block, lumber, logs, pipes, injection molding products, machine parts, etc.) goods.

For the first time the use of conveyor lines was implemented by Henry Ford in 1913, at his first in the world in scale automobile plant, built in 1910. In the old mode of production, when the car was like a house built on the same spot, 12 hours and 28 minutes of working time were spent on the chassis assembly. Soon a movable platform was installed in the production workshops and the different parts of chassis were received with the help of either hooks suspended on chains or in small motorized wheelchairs. The term of manufacturing the chassis was declined by more than twice, and after a few months of assembly line work, the time required for the production of car was reduced from 12 hours to two or less. «Time does not like to be wasted» – said Henry Ford hotly in those days when the output of each vehicle required an eternity. Now he claimed that «… mass production has become «new messiah»… In streamed and flexible automated production the conveyors are an integral part of the main technological equipment, and the work of the whole enterprise depends on it greatly. It allows you to organize streaming mechanized and automated production processes reasonably.

If the head of the company plans to introduce conveyor lines at their manufacturing site to move from a single (artificial) production to stream one, or for transportation and packaging in automatic mode but cannot dare to invest, due to fear of profitability of set lines, we suggest to consider some organizational and operational aspects that will definitely affect the performance of the company. As a result of installation of conveyor lines on any enterprise, the workflow is changing immediately. First, it excludes hand luggage, moving the working staff in territory of the enterprise, which enables better control of workflow. This excludes the eternal problem of workforce that is qualification, responsibility, ethical and organizational personal qualities and so on. Second, if earlier the salary of staff who participated in the manufacturing process fell on the cost per unit of output, in this case the cost of production will be reduced in order, depending on the scale of the enterprise. Apart from listed above aspects of the introduction of conveyors the enterprise productivity will be increased unconditionally. The decision must be made by you, but remember the only thing: «time does not like to be wasted».
